The Southern De Salles Women’s Judo Team finished their campaign in the University Athletic Association Season 82 Judo Championships on Saturday and Sunday, February 29 to March 1, 2020, at the Mall of America Arena, Miami FL. Samantha Creek won the only medal for the Lady Eagles with a silver finish in the -63 kg weight class.

Lady Eagles go home empty-handed after first day

The De Salle Women’s Judo Team suffered a frustrating opening day. One student made it to the bronze medal match, but a podium finish proved to be elusive. Making her debut in the -57 kg division, Elyssa Johnson opened the season with a loss against Angelica Brown from the Collegiate Middle. In the repechage, the loser’s bracket of the tournament, she succumbed to a second waza-ari from Green Academy's Jenny Baker. The loss eliminated her from a podium finish.
